A: Our emphasis is for the ex-inmate, so that he can feel safe amongst men, and in a secular, non-threatening
surrounding. There is complete confidentiality between the men, no judgemental attitude & no pet doctrines. The
men can open up in the way they can in a pub & not feel as if it's going to be religious.
I always tell the guys Christianity is not a religion - but a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. There are
some ex-inmates who seem to feel safer there than in church buildings - or even sometimes home groups.
Many enduring friendships have come out of this, and the men do things for each other that would never have been
found any other way. Homes are found. Food, practical, spiritual, emotional help for wives defactos & children
during the week.
Bad Boyz Down Under - From Bad Boys To Great Men
About Us
Noel Gallagher explains how we started:
Q: How long have Bad Boyz Clubs been going now?
A: Over 7 years, and they are held every second Saturday.
Q: What gave you the original idea?
A: I was asked to lead a men's group at a church in Burpengary. I led it for a
number of months, and when the sessions were completed, the men asked me to
continue.
Q: Where do you meet?
A: We started to meet in the kids' birthday party room at Maccas. This was and is
done so there is no strain on any individual home, and also for privacy.
Q: How did you come up with the name, "Bad Boyz Club"?
A: Our emphasis is on helping Correctional Centre inmates adjust back into the
community, and one of our blokes, "Miracle" Mick McGrath, started calling it that
because of some song that took his fancy, and he changed the words to:
"Bad Boyz, Bad Boyz, Whatcha gonna do - when THE LORD comes for you!"
Q: What kind of guys do you have rocking up?
A: There are fellows of all ages, from all denominations and backgrounds.
What we do, and how we are unique:
Q: Home & support groups are not new - How are you different?
Q: What is your format, & what changes have you seen in lives?
A: There are no agendas of preaching, counselling, singing, or prayer groups - in fact, no church agenda in any
form whatsoever. There is honesty, freedom to bear with with one another, pray with one another, encourage &
forgive one another & confess our sins to each other, so that Christ is glorified in our weakness.
